Social Venture Partners Toronto is pleased to invite you to our 4th annual film screening on August 22nd.
This year’s film, Hubert Davis’ Invisible City, comes with much critical acclaim. It was featured in Toronto’s 2009 Hot Docs Festival, and was selected as the festival’s best Canadian film.
Invisible City follows the story of two young boys growing up in Toronto’s Regent Park, an area in socioeconomic transition. It reveals the challenges and rewards of growing up in Regent Park, the social pressures at work tempting the boys to make poor choices, and the integral role that mentors and family play in their future success. Davis artfully illustrates the hardships of urban poverty and highlights the influence of local charities on the area’s youth.
An informative and thought-provoking film, Invisible City is a must-see for film lovers and Toronto’s charitable community alike.
A light dinner will be served.
A cash bar and popcorn available for purchase.
