Barley's Angels Toronto Chapter - November Meeting
Join us on November 27th to explore the topic of Toronto beer history!
Beer Makes History Better Tour:
Engaging stories, laughs, and lager - what a great way to spend an afternoon! On this Toronto walking tour, stops will be made at three pubs each with their own character and selection of beer to try. Throughout its history, from the early 1800s, when Toronto was known as "York" to the modern metropolis it is today, the citizens of this city have used beer for refreshment and merrymaking. This Toronto city tour is a historic walk through the streets of the old Toronto and a thoughtful look at beer, with a focus on beer made in Toronto and regional craft brews. Learn what role beer played though the ages since its invention and in helping Torontonians cope with cholera, fire, war, depression, rebellion, muddy streets, and general Victorian stuffiness.
This tour will visit a few unique and historical pubs, cover the early history of Toronto, and give visitors a new perspective on the city. This Toronto walking tour will finish in the Distillery District - an old industrial park and whiskey factory converted into a hub of art, culture and cafes.
A beer tasting is included at Mill Street Brewery and a snack will be served at one of the pubs along the way. Other food and drinks can be purchased. Gratuity for your tour guide is appreciated but not expected.
