Building an Artistic Community: the Hotel as a Creative Hub
Thursday, 4 October 2012 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM (PDT)
Join us at Rosewood Hotel Georgia for a celebration of art as we welcome renowned British artist Patrick Hughes and three members of the esteemed art community: Canadian Artists Landon Mackenzie and Christos Dikeakos and Vancouver Art Gallery Senior Curator, Bruce Grenville; for a lively panel discussion moderated by Todd Towers of Farmboy Fine Arts.
The legendary Vancouver hotel is home to one of the country's largest private collections of Canadian art, curated in partnership with international art consultancy Farmboy Fine Arts - with the exception of Hughes' two pieces which continue to captivate guests and Vancouverites alike: Internity is located in the hotel lobby and Warholiday in the entrance to The Private Residences at Hotel Georgia - both in his mesmerising three-dimensional ‘Reverspective’ style. Rosewood Hotel Georgia continues to provide a venue to some of the city's leading events, anchoring its position as social, cultural and business hub of the city. More of Hughes' works can be viewed in Vancouver at Winsor Gallery Oct 4-November 10, 2012.
Building an Artistic Community will take place in the Rosewood Hotel Georgia's historic Spanish Ballroom on Thursday October 4th from 5.30pm.
Ticket price $45 includes hosted cocktail reception followed by panel discussion and Q & A themed 'Sites for Building an Artistic Community'.
