About this event

We are seeking input from people who do business in our community to help develop a plan which will be presented to City Council in January 2020 and implemented over the next five to 20 years.

Our plan is to position Victoria as an attractive place to invest and to start and grow a business. We’re doing this because:

• We want high-value jobs for Victorians in a global economy with a rapid pace of change

• Automation is on the rise and we want to be future ready

• Inclusion and diversity are key to a strong economy and a healthy community

• There is ample economic opportunity and job-creation potential in responding to the climate crisis

Here’s where we’re going: As the Capital City, Victoria is a future ready, globally fluent, influencer and innovator. We are using our status as a small powerhouse to create high-value jobs and build a high-value economy that meet our needs now and anticipates the future.

This roundtable is for people who run businesses in the City’s neighbourhoods; this includes people who work from home in the city’s neighbourhoods. It’s also for everyone working in the social enterprise sector.

Key questions for discussion:

1. What is the City currently doing well to support small businesses in neighbourhoods and social enterprises and social enterprise culture?

2. What can the City do better to support small businesses in neighbourhoods and social enterprises and social enterprise culture? (Please be as specific as possible)

3. What specific challenges do neighbourhood businesses and social enterprises face that larger-scale businesses don’t?

4. What can the City do to help address these specific challenges?

5. What is one word you’d use to describe Victoria today? What is one word you’d like to be able to use to describe Victoria 20 years from today?

6. What else do you want to tell us?

This is a free event but please do pre register so we can manage attendees and plan appropriately. Thank you.
