About this event

We are seeking input from people who do business in our community to help develop a plan which will be presented to City Council in January 2020 and implemented over the next five to 20 years.

Our plan is to position Victoria as an attractive place to invest and to start and grow a business. We’re doing this because:

• We want high-value jobs for Victorians in a global economy with a rapid pace of change

• Automation is on the rise and we want to be future ready

• Inclusion and diversity are key to a strong economy and a healthy community

• There is ample economic opportunity and job-creation potential in responding to the climate crisis

Here’s where we’re going: As the Capital City, Victoria is a future ready, globally fluent, influencer and innovator. We are using our status as a small powerhouse to create high-value jobs and build a high-value economy that meet our needs now and anticipates the future.

This roundtable is for anyone who runs a small business in the City, with a focus on downtown businesses. It’s also for everyone working in the financial sector.

Key questions for discussion:

1. What is the City currently doing well to support small business and the financial sector?

2. What can the City do better to support small business and the financial sector? (Please be as specific as possible)

3. What challenges is your company/industry facing in becoming future ready?

4. Does your company/industry have ambition to be a global influencer? If so, tell us more.

5. How can the City assist your company/industry to be more future ready and globally fluent?

6. What is one word you’d use to describe Victoria today? What is one word you’d like to be able to use to describe Victoria 20 years from today?

7. What else do you want to tell us?

This is a free event, but please do pre-register so we can manage attendees and plan appropriately. Thank you!
