About this event

FItnic in the Park: A CASA fundraising event

Chef Table Living and Sound Vibes are excited to announce FITnic in the Park: A CASA Fundraising Event with Live Music, Group Personal Training, Yoga and a Nourishing Picnic. Come dive into your body, mind, and soul in the heart of YEG at Louise Mckinney Park! We believe that our wellness consists of many different methods that help us feel vibrant and healthy. Our intention is to create an experience for you to tap into these different healing methods that help contribute to our overall mental and physical wellbeing while giving back to those in need. This event is a fun, non-intimidating, and inclusive atmosphere for people of all ages, sizes, and backgrounds to come and move your body, relax your mind, and nourish your soul. Grab your brightest neon workout clothes and let’s move, breathe, and eat together!

Check out all the details below!

Event Information

The event will kick off with a 15 minute mental health talk with a representative from CASA Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health. They will cover strategies, tools, resources, and tips to help you navigate your mental health. According to the CMHA, in any given year, 1 in 5 Canadians experience a mental illness. We want to end the stigma around mental health and provide you different ways to help manage your wellbeing.

Now get ready to SWEAT! We have our friends from Orangetheory Fitness guiding us through a 45 minute group personal training class to help build stamina, strength, power, and speed! This will be an epic total body workout accessible for all levels.

After a quick rehydration and bathroom break, it's time to STRETCH! We will hit our mats with Sound Vibes for a restorative yoga class. This style of practice is to help you slow down, unwind, and stretch your body and relax your mind. The yoga class will finish with the sweetest savasana and meditation.

This wouldn’t be a FITnic without a PICNIC! After all that movement, it's time to EAT! Bring a blanket and/or chairs and dive into a delicious, nutrient packed power bowl provided by Sabor. Refuel, re-energize, and nourish your body through high quality ingredients and health conscious cooking techniques. When you purchase your ticket, there will be an order menu for your power bowl where you can provide any dietary restrictions! We can accommodate vegan, GF, vegetarians.

Cody Homa (aka Gatsby) from Sound Vibes will be the DJ for the event. He will be providing music for all the classes as well as during the picnic!

This event is sponsored by Edmonton Downtown Business Association.

Sounds Vibes

Cofounders of Sound Vibes, Cody Homa and Sarah Farrell, are passionate about bringing the practice of yoga out of the studios and into the community. They started Sound Vibes four years ago with the purpose to unite the healing therapies of yoga and music. They host unique events and classes all around #YEG and Western Canada from charity yoga events at Rogers Place, to relaxing classes in the Muttart Conservatory and U of A Botanic Gardens, to teaching mindfulness and yoga to students and teachers at Junior and High Schools. You can find them in the summer hosting pop up yoga classes throughout Edmonton’s beautiful river valley. Every class is accompanied with live music specifically curated for each experience. Yoga, sound and rhythm have the ability to focus the mind and relax the body. When all are utilized intentionally in a single class, the practitioner has an opportunity to drop deeper into their practice and ultimately themselves.

OrangeTheory

Orangetheory is a total-body group workout that combines science, coaching and technology to guarantee maximum results from the inside out. In a 60-minute class, led by a highly trained and certified coach, members target twelve minutes in the Orange Zone to raise their heart rate and charge up their metabolism. The result is an increase in calorie burn post-workout, backed by the science of excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC). Our OTbeat technology measures heart rate and performance data in real-time so you know your workout is working. It only takes a minute inside our studio to understand it’s not a competition — it’s a community. Together, we’re working toward a better version of ourselves to live a longer, more vibrant life.
