Researchers in the Faculty of Humanities need to have a web-based platform for commenting on each others' work-in-progress. Through the Sherman Centre on Digital Scholarship, and in collaboration with the Innovation Factory, we are holding a hackathon at the McMaster Innovation Park [on Longwood Drive], Friday March 22nd to Sunday March 24th. The winners of the hackathon (i.e. those who have built the best platform) will get to demo their app at DemoCampHamilton11 to be held on Monday 25th at TwelvEighty.
Where: McMaster Innovation Park (in the cool new Innovation Factory workspace!)
Friday March 22nd 4:30pm until Sunday March 24th 12:00pm
Note that the workspace will be open all night.
What do I get out of participating?
Making an open source contribution to digital scholarship research happening at McMaster is first and foremost an excellent portfolio builder. Students with great portfolios get great co-ops, internships, and jobs! But you'll also get to learn a lot over the weekend, both about building the platform and about working on a project in a group. Hack@Mac will be a fun time too, the new Innovation Factory space is awesome! And if that's not enough... free food and beverages all weekend!
Who can attend Hack@Mac?
Hack@Mac is open to McMaster University students. Programmers of all skill levels are welcome, and coming in teams is highly encouraged.
