Father Paolo Dall'Oglio first came to Syria to study Arabic from Italy in the 1980s where he fell in love with the country and its people. He has come to be well known among Syrians for his work on dialogue and understanding between Muslims and Christians.
Father Paolo decided to rebuild Mar Musa Monastery near Damascus and to make it famous again. It attracts today visitors from all over the Syria and the world, and stands as a physical and spiritual meeting point between Christians and Muslims.
Unfortunately, with the worsening situation in Syria, and standing with the youth of the Revolution, the government expelled him from Syria, a country that became a home to him.
