Kevin MacKenzie has worked in the digital world for nearly 20 years and currently leads the social media practice at Marshall Fenn Communications in Toronto. Watching the behavioural shift as technology and the web have become pervasive in our daily lives has become a passion for Kevin. He is an active participant in social media and encourages everyone to embrace this communication shift into our daily business lives. The discussion will look at the rise of social media, its impact on our daily lives and the implications to business communications
Packing seven Twitter accounts, a Youtube channel and a Facebook fan page, the Hamilton Police Service is creating an on-line community to engage and inform citizens on crime and related information. It was Sgt. Jay Turner's @HPSActionTeam4 account that started it all and Jay will share his arresting story from concept to 10,000 tweet. He will be joined by the Service's Corporate Communicator Catherine Martin.
Serving nearly 32 million passengers a year, Toronto Pearson is Canada’s largest and busiest airport, in Canada’s largest and busiest city. When you consider that Canada’s population is roughly 34.5 million, that’s almost our entire country! Erin Joyce from Toronto Pearson International Airport will share how Pearson is using social media to engage up to a million passengers a day on topics unique to the aviation industry such as noise complaints, customer feedback and community relations.
