The SOULdiers Company presents: The Gallery of Souls
An evening of hip hop and funk styles dance featuring
The SOULdiers Company!!
The SOULdiers’ Company is a group of semi-professional dancers that share an interest in studying hip hop and funk styles culture. Under the direction of Kim Sato, the company hopes to inspire the community through their performances around the city and show that hip hop can identify with and be a very positive influence on today's youth.
This is the company’s 8th season currently housing 16 members, studying the history of movement behind hip hop and funk styles dance, especially locking and popping. They train at the Dance Centre 9 hours a week Tuesday through Thursday with resident faculty Jesse Kim for popping, Jeri Chien and Yoshi Hisagana for hip hop, Koffi Noumedor for house, Thaiyo Seo and Dean Placzek for breaking and Kim Sato for locking. They also learn from many fantastic guest teachers from around the globe. The group learns history and are introduced to the other elements of Hip Hop culture: DJing, emceeing and graffiti art.
Join the company as they showcase how their 9 month training program has benefited them.
