Guest Bios

Naeem Talukdar - Indy 1T4

Naeem's web development skills enabled him to start up Flaunt, a platform for students to share skills and expand their network, in January 2012. Last summer, he joined ClassDojo as a Product Development intern in California. Recently, he has taken on Silkroads - a project that will use Industrial Engineering techniques to tackle drug distribution in the developing world.

Matt Heisie -
PSH Enterprises

Matt began his career with web development, a valuable skill set that later helped him land a PEY internship position at Canadian Pacific Railway immediately after his first year of studies in Engineering.  Since then, he has worked in the consulting and business analysis area.  He is currently working in PSH Enterprises, where he is responsible for exploring new areas of interest, building business plans, conducting market research, prototyping designs, as well as creating and presenting pitches.

Adam Hueniken - Hacker Academy

Adam is a 3rd year Eng Sci ECE student passionate about the intersection of cutting-edge technology and excellent design. He has previously been a mechanical engineering intern for Continental Automotive, a program manager intern for Microsoft, and is a co-founder of a small web design studio.

Freddy Chen - ECE 1T4

Freddy is a 3rd year Computer Engineering student who's very interested in technology and entrepreneurship. Last summer, he started a mobile rewards company through The Next 36, a program designed to transform students into high impact entrepreneurs. In previous summers, Freddy has interned as a software engineer for Altera Corporation, served as the U of T Engineering Kompetitions (UTEK) Director and Vice-President Academic for the Engineering Society, enrolled in summer courses at U of T and BCIT, and worked at a pool hall. He also tried getting research positions with various professors and received NSERC funding. This summer, Freddy is interning at Facebook's HQ in Menlo Park, California. He would love to talk about or answer any questions about his experiences.

Stephane De Vuyst - SolidSHOT

SolidSHOT is a technology which encapsulates different alcohol beverages. The alcohol spheres can then be consumed with regular alcohol in several different ways at bars or parties. SolidSHOT was born out of the Hatchery at UofT in April 2012. The Hatchery helped our team get lab space for experiments and expertise from professors and grad students. Throughout the summer and the academic year, we have worked on developing a minimum viable product. We hope to have a product ready by this summer, so that we can start marketing it to bars.

Layan Kutob - Next36

Layan's passion for creating an impact, love for startups and interest in technology has driven her to join the Next 36 where she's put her hands into starting her own startup called Kids App Academy. She is a 4th year Industrial Engineering student, who's been involved in Skule taking on a variety of initiatives from co-founding the You're Next Career Network, chairing the National Business and Technology Conference 2013, running the Engineering Stores and UTEK. In previous summers, Layan's done research, and was a program manager at AMD during her PEY.
