The Lost Art of Canning: A Beginners Workshop SATURDAY Sept 22nd
Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM (MDT)
Green Calgary's Sustainability Series Presents:
The Lost Art of Canning - A Beginners Workshop
Join Green Calgary in welcoming Sheila Brown-Eckersley - trained chef, local food lover, and co-creator of the new Calgary North East Farmers Market, who will guide us through the practical art of home canning. Learn the chemistry and biology of water bath canning so that you can become comfortable with the process and the theory behind it. You will gain the confidence and skills to preserve heirloom family recipes or any new concoctions you wish through our successful interactive format.
The workshop will cover canning theory, equipment, recipe selection, sourcing supplies and of course, hands on canning for everyone to take home!
This workshop is perfect for anyone who would like to learn how to preserve, who is interested in eating locally year round, and those who would like to control where their food is coming from while saving time and money.
Workshop includes: all ingredients, equipment and lunch!

NOTE: If you must cancel, please give us 72 hours notice prior to workshop.
