The great Yogi Swami Vishnudevananada says the body is like a "yantra". Yantras are beautiful geometric forms, like a mandala, used for meditation and awakening more subtle states of being. In yoga we see the body as a vehicle for awakening, an instrument and temple to be utilized for service, self expression, and self discovery.
The explosion of hatha yoga inspired classical yoga practices and activated a world wide movement of practitioners and teachers committed to physical and spiritual health and healing of ourselves and the world -- messengers of peace. It is in this spirit we arrived at our title of the Peaceful Warrior's Body.
Along with this inspiration has come an athletic intensity and ambitious thriving for vital and able bodies that sometimes leads to injury or pain. Avoiding the trap of right and wrong practice we look to the body's messages for answers.
In this afternoon workshop we will journey with movement and therapy expert Jaya Jeff Sims into the universe of the body and how we can integrate anatomical & physiological understanding and modern science prose and ancient yogic wisdom and poetry as to maximize our stride and stance as warrior's of peace and light. The afternoon will include movement, solo & assisted poses and lecture along with inspiration and perspiration.
