With the support of AIGA Orlando, the Society of Typographic Aficionados (SOTA) is pleased to present the first in a new series of workshops. Tickling Béziers is a two-day workshop lead by Positype type designer and hand lettering artist Neil Summerour. This two-day workshop will take place at the Full Sail University Digital Arts & Design Art Studio in Winter Park, FL.
The workshop will focus on balancing traditional analog lettering techniques with the flexibility of digital workflow.
Day 1 — Explore brush, marker, pencil, and pen-lettering techniques. Under the guidance and instruction of Neil, you will learn about the lettering process and how to trust your hand to make refinements to your work.
Day 2 — Dive head first into your favorite vector or font design application, transforming your analog lettering from the first day into a refined vector file. You will also be taught best practices, efficient techniques, and some of the dos and don’ts of lettering digitization. Emphasis will be placed on the process and technique of proper point to point digitization and Bézier usage to produce smooth, flawless lines. Autotracing is strictly prohibited!
Lunch will be provided on both days.
