Utopia Festival: Women in Digital Culture

Showcase | Mobile Dance Party | Conference

Showcase features 30 artists including: Peaches, Tanya Tagaq, Isis Salam (Thunderheist), Betti Forde, B-Traits, Librarian, Lynx, Zenobia, She, Blondtron, Lady Lane, Tank Girl, Miss M, Just Sheila, Bles-sed, The Square Root of Evil, JNL, Miss Innocent, and DJ Tapes. Media artists include VJ Electrabelle, Julie Gendron, Sebnem Ozpeta, Claudia Medina, and Krista Lomax.

We are selling 1000 tickets at $26 (+up) available now at Beatstreet, Little Sister's, Puff, Zulu, People's Coop Bookstore, The Fall, W2 and on this web page.

8pm Evening Show

Keynote address: Peaches (Berlin) and music by Tanya Tagaq (NWT), Cris Derksen, JB The First Lady, plus a diverse mix of Vancouver writers! Open to women and men! Planning to see Peaches at the showcase? Check out the schedule and consider coming early after 8pm and hear her in an intimate Peaches talk and Q&A! we've included the 8pm show for everyone attending with a $26 showcase ticket)

10:30pm Showcase!

Electro, Bass, Hip Hop starring Peaches, Isis Salam (Thunderheist), Betti Forde, Librarian, Lynx, Tanya Tagaq, Zenobia, B-Traits, DJ She, Tank Girl, plus many more! Media artists include VJ Electrabelle, Julie Gendron, Sebnem Ozpeta, Claudia Medina, and Krista Lomax. (for women and men; your $26 showcase ticket gets you in to the Evening show as well, so come early!)

The Festival coincides with the 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day and its theme: 100 Women, 100 Artworks. Proceeds support W2's Second Annual Girls Creative Tech Summer Camps (8-14 years).

The evening concert and showcase program is open to men and women, while the daytime is women-only. Note program subject to change.

For women interested in electronic music and media, the $50 Conference wristbands provide all-access and a networking reception: Mobile Dance Party, Conference, exclusive Dinner Reception, and 8 hour-long Showcase! We are anticipating 150 women participating in the conference's five creative streams: electro, hip hop, bass, electro-acoustic and VJing. Optional morning workshops provide hands-on learning for VJs and DJs. For details on the conference visit our conference page then come back and purchase your $50 conference/showcase pass.

Production and creation sessions providing mentored training for 20 interested women volunteers with a 4-day work experience building the festival.
