Event Details

BOSSA NOVA is the new intelligence, the new rhythm, the new sensitivity, the new secret of Brazilian youth. As simple structure of sophisticated sounds behind words that nobody wants to believe: that love hurts but exists, that it is better to believe than to be skeptical and that hope costs nothing.

With this soirée emerged in Canada's finest Latin talent we will be:

(a) Celebrating the 100 years of Vinicius De Moraes (a top Brazilian icon of music and poetry).

(b) Revitalizing Brazilian culture in the World's greatest mosaic city: Toronto.

(c) Part proceeds supporting the Generous Hearts Foundation, for the impoverished in Brazil. (www.generoushearts.org)

Hosted by crooner Andy De Campos with members of The Starlight Orchestra.

vocals by Andy De Campos and special guests

Andy De Campos

Andy De Campos is a Songlighter!

"He is an inspired performer that sings songs with which he has a deep personal relationship which the audience makes their own. The intent is to touch the listeners by stimulating their inner sensitivities."

~Heather Ostertag (music industry professional. Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. Industry Builder Award, East Coast Music Association, 2011).

The song is the focus. The performer and the audience are both expiring the song, fundamentally, in the same way.

BIOGRAPHY

Andy De Campos began singing as a young man in England and Portugal in1999 and has spent a decade developing his warm vocal style into a full time occupation in Canada and the US.

Working closely with contemporary Canadian composers such as Tony Quarrington and Jordan Klapman, Andy works consistently in Ontario and upper New York State at music venues and casinos. Ilene Miklos, Entertainment Coordinator at Seneca Resorts & Casinos described him as follows “Andy has an extremely high work ethic in addition to his amazing voice and fabulous delivery of some of the best standards ever written. His personality on and off stage is endearing and he hits every song right on the mark. I adore his new song ‘Toronto!’ which nails the vibe of the city.”

Andy co-wrote this single, which was a great success locally. It was even used in the 2014 municipal elections. His debut album “Colors” is the best sample of what constitutes his act and one of the reasons his style cannot be narrowly confined to a single category. In his repertoire Andy is found romancing “old flames” as much a courting “new passions”.

Often referred to as a “crooner”, Andy consistently jumps out of his comfort zone and challenges himself, pushing the boundaries of modern jazz. He goes beyond the Great American Songbook to include international material in French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and, more recently Mandarin.

In his home, Toronto, Andy occasionally shares the stage with musicians exemplary of today’s trends. Among them are Robert G. Scott (co-writer of Michael Bublé’s international hit single “Hollywood”), Great Bob Scott, William Sperandei, Chris Butcher, Mark Kieswetter, George Koller, Ross MacIntyre, Richard Underhill and Mark Kelso.

Andy has developed a personal style through many influences.  He brings a fresh contemporary take to his material.  The art that Andy offers has Jazz, Rock, Latin and Country re-emerging and existing in harmony with a unique and rare synergy.
