Celebrate International Women’s Day with West Coast LEAF’s Annual 26th Equality Breakfast. Honour our collective achievements, inspire and be inspired, catch up with old friends and meet new ones, and raise money for West Coast LEAF’s upcoming projects in the areas of legal education, law reform, and litigation.
This year, West Coast LEAF will host author, actor, and activist Carmen Aguirre as our special guest. Aguirre's first book, Something Fierce: Memoirs of a Revolutionary Daughter, won CBC's 2012 Canada Reads award. Her extensive oeuvre includes 20 plays, many exploring her experience as an exile and activist. Through her work Aguirre has helped raise awareness in Canada and abroad about Pinochet’s violent regime, which extended from 1973 to 1990 and included the torture and internment of many Chilean citizens. Fierce, funny, and unforgettable, Aguirre continues to inspire and unite her audiences.
Seating: All individual ticket holders seated on a 'first come' basis the morning of the event. Only table purchasers (including half-tables) will be assigned reserved seating. Those who buy their table tickets earliest will be allocated seats closest to the stage.
Large screen projection: Attendees told us they want to see what’s happening on the stage projected on-screen. We’ll be doing that this year.
Tax receipt: Individuals who purchase tickets will be mailed a tax receipt for the eligible portion of ticket(s) if a mailing address is provided. A $40 tax receipt will be provided for $80 tickets; $50 for $90 tickets.

West Coast LEAF
West Coast LEAF is the only organization in BC dedicated to promoting women’s equality through the law. West Coast LEAF and our sister organization LEAF National have helped bring about some of the most important victories for women in Canada: safe access to reproductive rights; fair workplace standards; fair separation agreements; “no means no” in sexual assault; the right to be free of sexual harassment from landlords, and more. We’ve been working since 1985 to end discrimination against women through BC-based equality rights litigation, law reform, and public legal education. Learn more at westcoastleaf.org.
