Event Details

Spring is here, and it's a great season for volunteering! Gather some friends and spend a few hours volunteering for a local United Way member agency, followed by drinks at a nearby pub with fellow GenNexters.

We have four participating agencies on Saturday, May 1st. Choose ONE of the four agencies below:


Bond Street Nursery School

Major Intersection: Queen & Yonge

Bond Street Nursery School is a licenced child care centre, coordinating programs for children with developmental or emotional disabilities.

On May 1st, participants will help Bond Street with playground cleanup.


The Good Neighbours' Club

Major Intersection: Jarvis & Shuter

The Good Neighbours' Club is a drop-in centre for men 50 years and over. Services to members include recreation, lunch, emergency clothing, and shower and laundry facilities. Other services include hospital and home visiting, client intervention and assistance, escort to medical appointments and counselling.

On May 1st, participants will help the Good Neighbours' chef in preparing a meal for its members.


Mid-Toronto Community Services

Major Intersection: Carleton & Sherbourne

Mid-Toronto provides community support services for seniors and adults living with disability or illness. Services include transportation, telephone security check, meals on wheels, respite care and adult day centre.

On May 1st, participants will help Mid-Toronto's Meals-on-Wheels service. A minimum of three drivers will be required.

 

Sistering - A Woman's Place

Major Intersection: Bloor & Dovercourt

Sistering is a multiservice women's organization, providing services for women who are homeless, socially isolated, or who have low incomes.  Services includes drop-in centres with access to meals, phone, showers, laundry and clothing, and housing support. There are also programs for pre-employment, and arts and crafts production (for the purpose of self employment or supplementary income).

On May 1st, female volunteers will help prepare and serve lunch.
