Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington
We are pleased to announce, as of April 1, 2014, the creation of the Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington, an amalgamation of the Alzheimer Societies of Cambridge, Guelph-Wellington and Kitchener-Waterloo.
This joining is focused on serving better, the growing number of people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, and their family and friends. This new organization has already allowed us to see a positive impact for our communities, such as:
- A Dedicated Client Line Team - to book people needing support as quickly as possible (just call your local number and you will reach us).
- Expansion of Services to our Rural Clients - by providing services in Mount Forest, Erin, Fergus-Elora, Drayton and New Hamburg. Thanks to our rural partners who have hosted our staff for "office" hours and support group times.
- Greater help where and when you need it -no matter where you live or your family member, we can serve you in the community most convenient for you, whether that be individual or family social work meetings, group or education series (if you need help from another Alzheimer Society, we can make an introduction).
- Getting You Services at the Point of Diagnosis - in most situations, your family doctor regularly gathers experts in the area of memory to provide clarity on what is happening to you or your loved one, these gatherings are called Memory Clinics. Our staff on-site at these clinics can immediately connect you to Alzheimer Society services to support you.
Thanks to all of the board members, staff, volunteers and community partners who championed this move to better serve our broader communities.
