My name is Annita Phagoo Nichol and I started Remade by Meebs 4 years ago, an adventure focusing on remaking clothes and other found fabric into one of a kind aprons to sell at markets.
I also have a lot of fun making upcycled gifts for my loved ones and want to share the experience of upcycle sewing with others. I’m lucky enough to be from a family of makers and grew up in a “just try it” environment. I hope to recreate this optimistic and supported environment this fall to come together and see what the people can do.
Upcycling trash fabric is an economical and ethical opportunity to express creativity and have fun while actively contributing to the future of our environment. With the tonnage of textile recycling being in only 1/6th the 6 million of pounds that went into Calgary landfill last year, it’s our obligation to be more creative.
So here I go… Remade Upcycle Sewing event launches Nov 10 for 4 days. Over the course of this time I will be testing my rhetoric and putting my money where my mouth is!
Build your weekend, tickets for each session are available through the eventbrite links, $35 per session unless otherwise posted. All sessions are centrally located at the very cool, Voltage Creative Garage in Marda Loop (2101 34 Avenue SW).
