Event description
This ten week online ceramics course covers hand building basics and is appropriate for beginners or experienced artists in Cape Breton.

About this Event

This ten week course is intended to leave you with the knowledge of how to approach a variety of ceramic themes using basic hand building techniques. It will also present a selection of historic and contemporary ceramic and art objects for reference and inspiration.

All classes will take place online through Zoom, so you will need a laptop or computer close to where you want to set up your work space. Zoom is free to download, but you will need to set that up before our first meeting. Meetings will be recorded and available online through Google Docs in case you miss one. Reference/ inspiration images will also be available online every Friday afternoon.

We will cover several techniques to get you comfortable with the hand building basics. This will be appropriate for beginner beginners and more advanced artists wanting to add on to their skill set. The workshop will be project based, and we will be looking at historical and contemporary examples of objects to get our creative juices flowing.

We are looking into funding for materials, but this is not guaranteed. If you would like an idea of how much materials might cost if funding is not approved, please email me at buildingandburning@gmail.com. We'll do our best and keep you updated.

The first ten week workshop will run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 8pm, September 8th to November 12th. Space is limited to 10 participants and registration ends Thursday, September 3rd at 5 pm. Please email buildingandburning@gmail.com with questions or for more information.
