Rediscovering Wholeness  Through the Healing Power of Yoga

Every year Yoga Outreach delivers over 1200 yoga classes to social service agencies and facility partners across the province of British Columbia. All our programs are led by an incredible team of qualified, volunteer yoga teachers who have been trained by Yoga Outreach in trauma-informed yoga. Our weekly yoga programs give people a safe space to reconnect with and feel safe within their bodies (a key element in trauma recovery), while also re-establishing a sense of social safety by participating in group classes within facilities they are already accessing services in. Our programs provide participants with choice, a sense of community connection, and tools to draw from to self-regulate and manage daily circumstances. Yoga Outreach program participants learn and practice techniques to cultivate safe and compassionate relationships with their bodies to support them in their journey of recovery in diverse settings.

In this unique fundraising event to support trauma - informed programming at Yoga Outreach, Sandra Sammartino draws on her wisdom of over 50 years in the practice of yogism, the human mind and body and shares her journey of moving from pain and anxiety to joy and love through the practices of yoga. In our current world where many of us are broken and splintered in some way and yearn to return to the essence of who we are, Sandra will introduce partcipants to techniques that help confront and overcome the divisions that keep us from living in a state of oneness. This purposeful exploration, personal discovery, and deep surrender provides space for the unfolding of wholeness or wholeness - in - action and offers a radical approach to healing.Through Asana, Pranayama, Meditation and Toning (the use of sound) she will share with you what she has learned from her years of dedicated Yoga practice. The basic principles that live and breathe behind the practices of Yoga.
