Description

The Hotchkiss Brain Institute is pleased to present the 10th annual Bryan Kolb Lecture in Behavioural Neuroscience on Friday, September 6, 2019 with special guest Dr. Bita Moghaddam. Following the lecture, we invite all members, trainees, staff and guests to join us for the HBI Welcome Back Wine & Cheese reception.

Lecture Title:
Action selection and action encoding in anxiety

Dr. Moghaddam's research focuses on the use of animal models to study the cellular basis of cognitive constructs that are critical to psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia. The Moghaddam lab uses a systems approach to study the neuronal mechanisms that maintain cognitive and emotional functions in key brain regions that have been implicated in symptoms of schizophrenia, ADHD, anxiety, and addictive disorders. The primary focus is on prefrontal cortex subregions and dopamine neurons in the midbrain.

Lecture begins at 3:30 pm
