Description

The 11th Anniversary of Hike the Highlands Festival will take place September 12-21, 2014. This year's festival will feature 29 guided hikes over 10 days, evening presentations, opening and closing closing ceremonies, workshops and the hikers distance award program ( 25, 50, 75 & 100km).

Hike the Highlands Festival has been recognized by Nova Scotia Dept. of Tourism, Culture & Heritage as a Nova Scotia Signature Festival & Event in 2014. This recognition is a credit to our team of volunteers, guides & sweeps, partners, sponsors and of course ....you the the hiker.

This year's festival features three new guided hikes and four popular trails brought back from previous years. Hikers should bring the following equipment - hiking boots, a daypack, water bottle, sunglasses, camera, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a jacket. Sorry no dogs are allowed on the hikes.

Our festival team of volunteers looks forward to welcoming and meeting you at our 11th Annual Hike the Highlands Festival Sept. 12-21, 2014. Our registration opens on April 6, 2014. Hikers will be able to purchase both the Hiking Festival Pass & Cape Breton Highlands National Park entry pass from our festival - online, mail or at the registration desk during open hours at the festival.

Note: You will pick up your hiking festival pass and national park entry permit at the festival headquarters at St. John's Hall, 35891 Cabot Trail, Ingonish, NS . You are required to have a park pass when you hike in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

Hike the Highlands Festival Society is a non-profit incorporated society with the Registry of Joint Stock Companies in Nova Scotia. The mandate of the organization is to host annually a hiking festival in September throughout the Highlands of Cape Breton.
