The Council for Advancement of African Canadians in Alberta (CAAC), operating as Africa Centre, was incorporated in 2006. We are the largest pan African non-profit organization in western Canada, serving as a community hub that provides programs and services from a place of cultural awareness and competency to the families in our diverse community.We acknowledge the diversity of our cultural background as a source of the strength that brings capacity and competencies to shape a thriving community in Alberta. We have a strong African indigenous cultural foundation incorporated across our programs and services.MissionWe strive to create opportunities for full access and participation of all Albertans in all aspects of society including economic, social, cultural and educational endeavours and contributes to the holistic development and wellness of individuals, family and community.

Africa Centre is hosting the 17th annual Africa Day Gala on Saturday, June 21! It's going to be an unforgettable night at the Alberta Ballroom in the Edmonton Expo Centre, where over 450 guests will gather for a celebration filled with culture, delicious food, awards, and entertainment.This year’s theme, "Honouring the Past, Inspiring the Future," recognizes the invaluable contributions of different generations within the African-descent community.Throughout the evening, we will celebrate the visionaries, leaders and changemakers who have shaped our community while engaging in rich discussions with those paving the way forward. This gathering is more than just a gala—it is a tribute to our past, a recognition of our present and a commitment to our future. Year after year, we commemorate the accomplishments, resilience and vibrant tapestry of African descent culture and how it continues to shape our community.Each generation stands on the shoulders of those who came before, building upon their successes and carrying their legacies forward. As we honour the wisdom and achievements of past generations, we also recognize the responsibility of today’s leaders and the promise of future trailblazers.
