Event description

Description

All across Ontario, people are riding their bikes in support of amazing causes. There are rides for heart, rides for cancer and rides for mental health - Greg's Ride: Ontario's Ride for Safer Cycling is the only bike ride supporting cycling advocacy.

The 13th Annual Greg's Ride is taking place in the Hamilton, Ontario region on Sunday, September 23. We will begin and end all rides at 65 Hatt Avenue in Dundas, Ontario by the Shawn & Ed Brewing Company. 100% of the profits will go towards our advocacy to build an Ontario where:

  • Every student participates in a cycling training course,
  • Our communities are connected by a network of cycle tracks, bike lanes and paved shoulders, and
  • Every Ontario resident feels safe & comfortable hopping on their bicycle.

We are offering 3 ride distances in Hamilton and area, Ontario: 8km, 37km and 77km. Distances are approximate and subject to small changes.

Registration will begin at 7:30am on Sunday, September 23 for this event and will include on-route support, snack stations, a kit bag of goodies, a delicious hot lunch, and beverages from our friends at Shawn & Ed Brewing Co.

Ride Background:

In 2006, OPP Segeant Greg Stobbart was killed in a training ride on Tremaine Road in Milton. After Greg's death, his wife Eleanor McMahon founded the Share the Road Cycling Coalition in his memory to advocate for safer roads for all Ontarians. This year, as we host the 13th Annual ride in memory of Greg, we join together as a community to remember those who have been affected by cycling collisions, to celebrate the joys of cycling and to support the work of Share the Road in building safer, more accessible and more comfortable places to cycle for more people in Ontario.
