The 13th Annual Hike the Highlands Festival will take place September 9-18, 2016. This year's festival will feature 29 guided hikes over 10 days, evening presentations, opening and closing closing ceremonies, workshops and the hikers distance award program ( 25, 50, 75 & 100km).
Hike the Highlands Festival has been recognized by Tourism Nova Scotia and Destination Cape Breton as a Signature Festival & Event in 2016. This recognition is a credit to our team of volunteers, guides & sweeps, partners, sponsors and of course ....you the the hiker.
This year's festival features four new guided hikes and six popular trails brought back from previous years. Hikers should bring the following equipment - hiking boots, a daypack, water bottle, sunglasses, camera, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a jacket. Sorry no dogs are allowed on the hikes.
