Event description

On Saturday, April 27th the City of Guelph is hosting its 16th annual Guelph Clean and Green Community Cleanup—one of the city’s largest community environmental cleanup events.

This is your opportunity to spend a few hours “spring cleaning” your neighbourhood by joining others to pick up litter along Guelph’s streets, green spaces, and community parks. Not sure what ward you're in? Check the map.

Last year, more than 1,300 volunteers worked together to clean 57 parks and 61 trails and roadways, collecting a total of 3,000 kilograms of garbage. It is true that when we work together, we can make a big difference!

The 2019 cleanup is open to everyone: individuals, teams, and neighbourhood and community groups. Participating high school students can earn credit towards their community involvement hours. Students must ask the crew leader to sign the required form.

Participants will be provided with cleanup kits, including safety vests if desired for teams picking up litter along busy roads.

Cleanup kits can be picked up at the Victoria Road Recreation Centre, located at 151 Victoria Road North, on April 24 and 25 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

ARCH will also be providing free Universal Precautions training for participants ( safe disposal of sharps (needles or other biomedical waste)) along with “Sharps Disposal Kits” at the Victoria Road Recreation Centre on the same days as cleanup kit pick-ups April 24 and 25 from noon-7pm.

Following the cleanup event and to celebrate, there will be a free barbecue lunch at Riverside Park.
