St. Giles’ Cathedral: Mother Church of Presbyterianism

St. Giles’ Cathedral, The High Kirk of Edinburgh, has played a central role in the history of Scotland, sitting as it does on the High Street in the heart of the medieval Old Town of Edinburgh. Not least is its role in the Scottish Reformation, which gave birth to Presbyterian Church government. The talk will offer a historic review of the church, founded in 1124, reflect on its role in Scottish society and look to the future of ministry in the centre of Scotland’s capital city.

The Rev. Calum MacLeod

Born in Scotland, Calum studied in Glasgow where he obtained a BA in Economics from the University of Strathclyde and a BD in Divinity from the University of Glasgow. From 1994 until 1997 he was Probationer Assistant and then Assistant Minister of St Columba’s Church of Scotland, London, where he was Ordained in March 1996. Appointed to the staff of Fourth Presbyterian Church, Chicago [PCUSA] in September 1997 he served that congregation in a number of capacities concluding as Executive Associate Pastor and Head of Staff. He is now the Minister of St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh.

Tickets are $20 each. Seating is limited, so please buy your ticket early! Tickets are on sale until Tuesday, February 27, 2018.
