Event description
Party like it's 1945! A Victory Dance in honour of the 75th Anniversary of the end of World War II. Hosted by the Fashion History Museum.

About this Event

The Fashion History Museum (FHM) has recreated an 1812 Regency country ball and a 1912 Tango tea, and for this year's immersive event we are recreating a 1945 Victory dance in honour of the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II. For those wanting to brush up their jitterbug there will be swing dance lessons in the morning for beginners (at 9:30 am) and intermediate dancers (at 11:00 am). Classes are approximately an hour each. After a break, the big event will start at 2 p.m. There will be 1940s period games, a wartime buffet (with lots of patriotic vegetarian options), door prizes, dance and costume awards. 1940s style attire is encouraged but not required.

The party will be $30.00 per person, which includes admission to the museum and the buffet. This is a non-alcoholic event. Ticket prices include Eventbrite fees. Dance lessons will be $15.00 per person per class. Special price for taking both classes and joining us for the party of $55.00 per person for the whole shebang.

On display in the museum galleries this year are: WARdrobe: The Influence of War on Fashion, plus 20/20: A history of Specs Appeal.
