Join us as we celebrate the 18th Annual National Philanthropy Day in Vancouver, hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.  This year also features a full-day professional development opportunity for Fundraisers, the National Philanthropy Day Summit.

Jessica Houssian
Women Moving Millions
 
Born in Vancouver, Jessica Houssian fell in love with feminism as a little girl and has been stomping her feet for women’s equality ever since. With a B.A. in Women & Gender Studies (Bates College) and an M.Sc. in Fundraising & Grantmaking (New York University), Jess loves living and working at the intersection of women and philanthropy – and is inspired by the power it has to transform the world. Prior to her work with Women Moving Millions, Jess was a partner at Inspired Philanthropy Group – a boutique consulting firm supporting individuals and corporations to help create authentic, effective impact.
In another life, Jess served as Associate Features Editor at Harper’s Bazaar magazine, where she learned to write, edit, and treat deadlines with respect. Jess currently serves on the Board of Directors of UNICEF Canada and the Canadian Women’s Foundation, where she Chairs the Anti-Human Trafficking Grants Committee. She serves as Board Chair of RefugePoint, and is a Trustee of The Houssian Foundation.

Summit Track Options

 

Donor Engagement Track:

There is nothing more important to an organization’s fundraising success than the journey their donors take after making a donation. This track will focus on how and when to thank them, how to engage them online, how to build and sustain new communities of support, and communication the impact of their donation.

Strategy and Management:

For the emerging leader, this track will help you to refine the skills needed to lead high performing people and programs. It includes a case study related to performance measurement and metrics, a panel discussion on career transition led by Christoph Clodius of KCI Ketchum Canada, and a workshop on integrated annual giving program strategy.

Major Gifts Masterclass: (SOLD OUT)

Designed to hone your skills in major gift cultivation and negotiations, this program is led by an internationally recognized educator with over 30 years fundraising experience. Participants will aquire the best practices and knowledge they need to build a top-flight major gifts program at their organization.

Program Development:

Diversifying your fundraising program and finding new donors, while continuing to manage existing ones, requires a difficult balancing act of attention and resources that can be challenging to perform without the right strategy. This track will provide you with the information you need to successfully implement a planned giving or grant writing program at your organization while maintaining an ethical culture that supports your mission.

Leadership Track:

As a leader, you’ve helped to build and shape the non-profit sector, but have you thought about what the future holds? Join experienced thought leaders Brock Hart of Overlap Association Associates, Sharon Avery of UNICEF Canada and Jessica Houssian of Women Moving Millions for an engaging roundtable discussion that explores their vision for sector-wide collaboration and how we can promote the next generation of leaders to achieve it. Applying a design thinking worldview to these issues, this track will assist leaders like you develop the programs and policies needed to build a better future for the communities we serve.
