Out On Screen

At Out On Screen, donors, supporters, volunteers, and film-lovers like you believe in a world where queer, trans, and Two-Spirit identities are equitably valued and represented in society and in media. For 29 years, we have curated the latest in queer film and knowledge, and have convened safe spaces for LGBT2Q+ communities, because when we all see ourselves represented, we are inspired and empowered to enact social change at home, and around the world.

Out On Screen pursues its mission to illuminate, celebrate, and advance queer lives through two core programs:

Out in Schools
The Out in Schools program fills a gap in LGBT2Q+ education and meets a critical need in schools and communities throughout BC. We bring queer films to schools across the province. Since 2004, supporters have brought powerful film, positive role models, and engaging discussions on homophobia, transphobia, and bullying to more than 90,000 youth and educators, opening hearts and changing minds in communites throughout BC.

Vancouver Queer Film Festival
The Vancouver Queer Film Festival is a gathering place for queer, trans, and Two-Spirit communities in Vancouver, providing a platform for voices from the margins. We rival heavyweights in the international landscape of queer cinema, and share stories that accurately and authenticaly represent the rich and complex lives of LGBT2Q+ people from BC, Canada, and around the world.
