In true Scottish hospitality, the Saskatchewan Highland Gathering & Celtic Festival provides a friendly and relaxed environment for members of the public to come and watch various competitions in piping and drumming, highland dancing, and Scottish heavy athletics. In addition to having a front row seat to the above mentioned Celtic disciplines, the festival portion of the event offers non-stop entertainment on the main stage, a beer garden hosted by the Knotted Thistle Pub, an array of activities for children including face painting, a photo booth, bouncy castles, story telling and other pre-arranged activities. The fun doesn't stop there, attendees are encouraged to take a stroll through our vendors market and pick-up something uniquely Scottish like a clan badge, sporran, sgian dubh (skeen doo - black dagger) or even a kilt! This is the only event of its kind in the province of Saskatchewan. It is not to be missed!
When & Where
Saskatchewan Highland Gathering & Celtic Festival
The Saskatchewan Highland Gathering & Celtic Festival was created in 2012 by the Regina Highland Festival Association in conjunction with the Moose Jaw Highland Games. It incorporates older Highland Games events in Regina and Moose Jaw that have been running since the early 20th century and added a festival component to appeal to a wider audience. The Festival Association promotes all things Scottish and Celtic and provides competitors in the games, of which a large percentage are Saskatchewan youth, with important development opportunities in their chosen Celtic discipline. Enthusiasts from all over Western Canada come to southern Saskatchewan each year on the May long weekend to participate in this exciting line-up of events.
