Event description

Description

We welcome you to the 2nd Hamilton Chapter meeting of the year. Come and join us at Guelph City Hall to network with other energy managers and professionals in the field to share ideas.

In addition, there will be a technical presentation - "The New Lightscape: Navigating the LED Revolution"

Summary:
You don’t have to be in the energy world to know lighting has changed dramatically over the last several years. With the advent of LED technology the industry will never be the same and in this time of sweeping change it’s a wild west out there. So how do you know what to choose and avoid the pitfalls that come with a new lighting market? After all they all look good on paper.

In this talk we will discuss old thinking that can leave you misguided in choosing new LED lighting: metrics that can easily let you down, planned obsolescence, and major industry.

About the speaker:
Robin McKim is an energy efficiency professional focusing primarily on high performance industrial lighting systems. Over the course of a decade he has worked in the energy space with geothermal, solar thermal, solar PV, insulation, and lighting. His main interest lies in the promotion of green tech to industry by highlighting financial viability. He is a CEM and an LC.

Following the presentation there will be a tour of the Sleemans Centre, the City's premier sports and entertainment facility which has recently undergone energy retrofit projects including LED lighting and controls and refrigeration upgrades.
