Description

Criminal Record Checks – Screening Tools that Support Your Volunteer Selection Process

Criminal Record Checks are a pivotal tool in determining a volunteer’s suitability for your organization and the various volunteer roles needed to support your vulnerable community members. This workshop will help you explore how criminal record checks can be completed, where they fit into your overall screening process, and what the results might mean for your volunteers and your recruitment strategies.

About the Facilitator:

Lilaine Galway has worked in the non-profit sector in Victoria since 1998 coordinating programs that support children, youth, and adults with disabilities. Over that time, she has recruited, screened and trained hundreds of volunteers for Literacy Victoria, Big Brothers Big Sisters and United Way of Greater Victoria. She has a Master’s Degree in Learning and Technology and is excited to share her experiences of volunteer management and how the screening process can lead to safer recruitment decisions.
