About the Facilitator
Prior to moving to Canada in 2005, Iris headed the South African arm of an international non-profit organization that focused on community development through education and training. Some examples of projects are the training of disadvantaged youth to become employable and connecting graduates with potential employers to ensure they were hired immediately upon graduation, training of teachers in Science and Technology, and working with rural communities on employability and sustainability projects. On numerous occasions, Iris was asked to introduce similar programs in marginalized communities across the globe. The organization was honoured on many occasions, with the presence of Nelson Mandela who was a strong supporter of its work amongst the neediest communities. In South Africa Iris also consulted engineering firms to become more effective and efficient.
Iris has a background in Education and also holds an MSc in Engineering Business Management. Having lived in three continents, Iris brings an international flavour into her work
