The concert will feature the orchestra accompanying three internationally recognized accordion soloists for the Gala opening of the World Accordion and Tango Festival. The orchestra will also perform Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 "From the New World".

2) WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 19 - 7:00 PM

Brian Wismath, Music Director
Alix Goolden Performance Hall

20th Annual Sing-Along Messiah
Featuring:
Jennifer Turner (soprano)
Kiiri Michelsen (mezzo-soprano)
Maximillian Jansen (tenor)
Nathan McDonald (bass)

For this 20th anniversary performance, the soloists will be redefining the gender implications of the baroque era by flipping solos (i.e. soprano will sing tenor solos and vice versa).

3) SATURDAY, MARCH 9 - 2:00 PM

Yariv Aloni, Guest Conductor
Dave Dunnet Community Theatre (Oak Bay High School)

Under the direction of guest conductor Yariv Aloni, the Civic Orchestra will present a concert of significant classic repertoire including: Dvořák's Slavonic Dances, Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite, and Grieg’s Symphonic Dances.

4) SUNDAY, MAY 5 - 2:00 PM

Brian Wismath, Music Director
Dave Dunnet Community Theatre (Oak Bay High School)

The concert will feature the orchestra accompanying soloists from within the Civic Orchestra. We are excited for the opportunity to demonstrate the solo skills of some of our regular members playing some unique and diverse repertoire! The orchestra will also perform Smetana's The Moldau.

5) SATURDAY, JUNE 8 - 2:00 PM

Brian Wismath, Music Director
Dave Dunnet Community Theatre (Oak Bay High School)

The final concert of the season will feature internationally recognized guitarist, Alexander Dunn, to perform music for orchestra and guitar. The concert will showcase Joaquin Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, a rarely performed but much-loved work by musicians and audience members.
