Event description

Description

This is a two-for-one conference special! Registering means you will get access to both the Alberta Student Leadership Summit (ASLS) and the Student Sustainability Summit (SSS). The summits are sharing the theme of (Re)Start Here, which inspires a sense of journey. It is a challenge to (re)visit past experiences, (re)examine assumptions, and (re)imagine what success means. Whether you are embarking on your leadership adventure, initiating a sustainability project or (re)invigorating your approach to creating change, this is the place to start!

The Alberta Student Leadership Summit: Leadership development is an on-going process of growth and change for the individual aspiring to lead, and those with whom they engage. ASLS is a province-wide student leadership summit that aims to build leadership skills, develop a network, and inspire students to lead!

The Student Sustainability Summit: This weekend event includes sessions and panels designed to provide students with personal and professional development opportunities. Student from across Alberta will delve into topics including social justice, sustainable food systems, change management, local economies and campus sustainability. The summit provides the tools, resources and networks we need to equip the next generation of sustainability leaders in Alberta.

FAQs

Who should attend the event?

Let me answer this with other questions: Are you a student (university/high school)? Are you interested in leadership and/or sustainability? If you answered yes to both of those questions, then YOU are who should attend this event!

That being said, we also love seeing community members and staff from various institutions at the Summits!

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The Summits are hosted at the University of Alberta which means it is easy to get here using public transit. Edmonton's famous Light Rail Transit (LRT) is a luxury ride through the city with excellent views of the River Valley and you will want to disembark at the University Station. There are many buses that make stops at the University Transit Centre. Google will help you find the best route!

Public transit is affordable (only $3.25 for a 2 hour ride) and is an environmentally friendly means of getting here!

Parking is available for $5.00 on Saturday. If you drive (or carpool!), the closest parkade is Windsor Car Park. If you want to take a small tour of campus (it's beautiful-ish in the winter), you can park at the Education or Stadium car parks.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Nah! Let's save a couple trees and keep the tickets online. We have the technology to check everyone in online with only your name. We are fancy.

Is there a dress code?

Not really. We want you to feel confident and comfortable, so wear whatever makes you feel good! Things to consider when choosing your outfit:

  • What kind of impression do I want to make? Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident!
  • Will I be able to move? There are some activities during the summit that require participants to move and will keep you on your feet.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

If you still have questions, don't hesitate to contact us at leaders@ualberta.ca. We would love to hear from you!
