What’s new in Diabetes 2018    

Breay W. Paty, MD, FRCPC, Clinical Associate Professor, Division of Endocrinology, University of British Columbia, Vancouver General Hospital  

The objectives of this presentation are to: review the updated Diabetes Canada 2018 Clinical Practice Guidelines, discuss the major cardiovascular diabetes trials and how they are influencing practice, and understand the new basal insulin-GLP-1 RA fixed dose combinations and how they may fit into the diabetes treatment regimen

At this session, various updates from the BC Ministry of Health will be provided on the BC PharmaCare program and other related provincial and national pharmaceutical policies and initiatives.  This will include topics such as the roles pharmacists have within the Ministry of Health, drug review processes, pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA), pharmacists in primary care, biosimilars, and national pharmacare

  2. To improve knowledge of various areas of pharmacy practice
  3. To keep up-to-date in the areas of diabetes, ministry of health, indigenous cultural sensitivity, College of Pharmacists of BC, influenza, pharmacy management, cannabis, chronic kidney disease and hypertension   

This continuing education event will be accredited for up to 6.25 CEUs by the CSHP-BC Branch. CSHP-BC Branch is an Accredited Provider of continuing pharmacy education by the Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy.
