Description

We are excited to announce that the Hintonburg Community Association will be hosting the annual Hintonburg Street Hockey Tournament!

The tournament format is the same as last year, 5 on 5. However this year we will only offer the Co-Ed Showdown (14yrs+) division. You must have at least 2 females on the rink at all times.

Registration this year is $20.00 with proceeds going to The Parkdale Food Centre.

Enter your team now to participate. Spaces are limited.

Rules & Regulations - Co-ed Showdown

1. There will be one division: Co-ed Showdown. Players must be 14+ years of age.

2. Registration is capped at 20 teams. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of two games.

3. Teams will have five players, including a goalie, on the rink at one time. At least two of the four offense/defense players must be female. Goalie can be male or female. Teams can have as many spares as they want. (Note: For planning purposes, organizers will have up to nine medals for the winning team at the end of the tournament).

4. Games will be played on a total of four rinks on Hamilton Avenue North between Spencer Street and Wellington Street and on Armstrong Street between Parkdale Avenue and Hinton Avenue North. Please be mindful of parked cars.

5. Games will be 30 minutes with two 14-minute periods and a 2-minute break.

6. No-shows at the scheduled start times are an automatic forfeit.

7. All goalies MUST wear face masks. Shin pads and catching gloves are recommended for goalies. Goalie pads and blockers are NOT ALLOWED, UNLESS goalies on each team have goalie pads and blockers and the teams agree to use the extra equipment. In other words, it must be fair for both sides. For all other players, protective equipment is highly recommended.

8. Games are self-refereed by the players (volunteers will keep time and score).

9. Tie games will be determined by shootout with two shooters each. If it's still tied, teams will alternate shooters until one team scores and the other does not. All players on a team must shoot before any player shoots twice.

10. Standard hockey penalties apply. (e.g.: high sticking, tripping, slashing, etc.) Penalties award the victimized team possession of the ball. However, throwing a stick is an automatic penalty shot.

11. After a team scores a goal the other team gets “center”. Center will not be marked on the pavement, so teams must be sportsmanlike about giving appropriate space before the ball crosses center.

12. Goalies can't cross “center”.

13. Balls must be chased down by players if volunteers aren't available.

14. No time-outs, unless for injury.

15. No off-sides or face-offs.
