Description

The Northwest Library Federation, in partnership with Houston Public Library (HPL), is pleased to host the 2018 NWLF Fall Conference for staff and trustees of our member libraries in Hazelton, Houston, Kitimat, Prince Rupert, Smithers, Stewart and Terrace. The conference will be held at the Houston Public Library in Houston, BC from October 19-20, 2018.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Please register for the conference by October 12, 2018 at the latest. The sessions are open to all conference attendees, but some require additional registration for planning purposes. If you intend to be part of the following sessions, please register for them above in addition to your general registration and follow the relevant instructions.

  • Library Staff Roundtable (Oct 19th, 2:00 - 3:00)
    Participants will be contacted via email regarding discussion topics (must register by Oct 1st).

  • Evergreen Tutorial (Oct 19th, 3:30 - 4:30)
    Participants will be polled in advance via email regarding tutorial topics (must register by Oct 1st).
  • Trustee Orientation Program (Oct 20th, 9:00 - 4:00)
    To register, please send your full name, library, email, and phone number to Melissa at director@nwlf.ca by October 12, 2018. You may also register for this session yourself via this link: www.bclta.ca/register. Please note, the BCLTA charges a fee of $125/person to deliver this program (please consult your Library Director about the availability of training funds to cover the cost).

  • Getting Change Done (Oct 20th, 9:00 - 12:00)

  • Fund Development (Oct 20th, 1:00 - 4:00)

MEALS

A light breakfast and lunch will be provided on both October 19th and 20th. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, please email Melissa with this information at director@nwlf.ca so the caterer can be notified.

ACCOMMODATION

If you require accommodation in Houston, BC during the conference, please call the Sunshine Inn at 1-888-731-7867 (toll-free) to make accommodation arrangements. The group rate deadline has passed, but the hotel is still likely to have rooms available. For NWLF staff and board members, carpooling and shared accommodation is encouraged when appropriate.

The next general local elections in British Columbia are scheduled on October 20, 2018. If you are attending the conference sessions on October 20th, please be sure to vote during one of the Advance Voting days prior to General Voting Day.
