Description

Join us for this year's Annual Fraser Valley Chapter Continuing Education Event at the UBC Lecture Theatre in Surrey Memorial Hospital - Critical Care Tower.

Program

5:00-6:00pm: Registration / Dinner

6:00-6:05pm: Welcome

6:05-6:50pm: From Opioid Epidemic to Paradigm Shift

Dr. Karen Ng, BSc. Pharm., ACPR, Pharm. D.

Canada is in the midst of an opioid epidemic, with confusion and fear surrounding how we use opioids because of past misguided messages. As an evidence-driven profession, pharmacists can leverage our knowledge and skills, and collaborate to protect patients from harmful outcomes of opioids and misuse practices. Together, we can encourage approaches to optimizing opioid prescribing, and lead in our commitment to opioid stewardship.

6:50-7:15pm: Dessert/Coffee and Networking

7:15-8:00pm: New Trials in Critical Care: 2018/2019

Mr. Jarred Kelly, BSc. Pharm., ACPR, LMPS Year 2 Pharmacy Resident - Critical Care

This presentation will focus on the appraisal and applicability of several recent new trials in critical care including early norepinephrine in septic shock (the CENSER trial), pantoprazole vs. placebo for GI stress ulcer prophylaxis, and haloperidol or ziprasidone vs. placebo for treatment of delirium (MIND-USA trial).

This program is brought to you by the Fraser Valley Chapter of the CSHP-BC Branch through your committed support of CSHP.
