STRATEGY SESSION TOPICS

NOTE: Upon registration, you will be asked to choose your top FOUR sessions.

1. CANNABIS: REGULATIONS, KEY ISSUES, AND LEARNINGS
Eight months into the legalization of recreational cannabis in Ontario, numerous policy and regulatory issues have emerged. This session will explore those issues in greater depth and discuss some of the key findings from the OCC’s 2019 report on cannabis, set to be released in April.

2. ADVOCACY ON RED TAPE
An opportunity to work together to identify priorities and help inform what’s included in the upcoming red tape reduction bills.

3. ONTARIO'S TOURISM STRATEGY
The provincial government will be re-evaluating its tourism strategy in 2019, make sure your priorities are part of the conversation.

4. THE RESOLUTION DEBATE: WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE FLOOR
Are you new to the OCC AGM? Unsure of how to participate in the resolutions debate? Looking to get more involved in the resolutions process? Join your experienced peers for an informative discussion that will prepare you for the debate and help your chamber become more engaged at the AGM.

5. PUBLIC AFFAIRS: STRATEGIES AND TECHNIQUES
Helping to maximize and amplify your story.

6. GLOBAL GROWTH FUND
Funded by the Province of Ontario and administered by the OCC, the Global Growth Fund provides Ontario-based businesses with funding to help develop their export sales. Learn how your members can offset the costs of attending a trade show/mission, developing promotional materials, and conducting market research with Export Market Access or hire a dedicated export manager with the Export Manager Program.

7. DISCOVER ABILITY NETWORK
Funded by the Province of Ontario and powered by Magnet, a data-rich, job-matching technology platform, the Discover Ability Network is a free online portal and resource
centre that connects Ontario businesses directly to people with disabilities. Learn about the business case for hiring persons with disabilities and how the Discover Ability Network can help your members find the skilled talent they are looking for.

8. CHAMBER OF THE FUTURE: BUILDING MEMBERSHIP VALUE AND RELEVANCY
This session will build on membership needs research undertaken by the OCC in 2018, as
well as work conducted by other Chamber Network groups.  As the needs of the business community are constantly evolving, so too must the way that chambers and boards of trade deliver value to members. New approaches and services will be examined, with a view to increase relevancy and sustainability as well as best practices for bringing in new members, retaining existing members, and reengaging members in the chamber.

9. CHAMBER ACCREDITATION: HOW TO GET STARTED
Accreditation is a formal
acknowledgment that member chambers of commerce/boards of trade have been successfully evaluated against rigorous national standards of policy, service, and performance. Displaying the accreditation seal is your chamber’s declaration of, and commitment to, our unique value proposition as “the voice of business” in communities across Canada. Hear from accredited chambers about how they have benefited from going through the accreditation process and how to get started.

A full refund (for registration only) will be provided if a refund request is received in writing by Friday, April 12, 2019. Hotel accommodations must be canceled with a minimum of 7 days notice of cancellation, for a full refund.
