Event description

Description

The UofC nanoGroup will be organizing a networking event, the “2019 nanoNexus”, on February 19, 2019 from 5:30-9pm in the lobby of the UofC EEEL building – one of the largest LEED buildings in North America. Undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, technical staff, and industry will be invited to this event. This will be a great opportunity for all the Calgary nano-community to network with both researchers and industry and government representatives engaged in the field of nanotechnology and nanosciences. This year, we are thankful to our main body sponsor, Alberta Innovates, and the support from Summit Nanotech, Mitacs, University of Calgary Faculty of Science, University of Calgary Chemistry Department, ThermoFisher Scientific, Alberta WaterSmart, Innovate Calgary, TSGI corporation, University of Calgary Career Services, and nanoCluster Alberta.

For our 2019 Calgary nanoNexus, we have reserved attendance from the following companies and organizations: Alberta Innovates, Summit Nanotech, Mitacs, University of Calgary Faculty of Science, ThermoFisher Scientific, Alberta WaterNEXT, Innovate Calgary, TSGI corporation, University of Calgary Career Services, The Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking, and CoDesign Technologies.

Keynote speaker: Dr. Nashaat Nassar, leading scientist and innovator from the Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Calgary.

An exciting addition to this year's event is the Panel Discussion on the topic "From lab to fab: where are we in 2019?". Find out everything you need to know about how to bring lab-tested ideas out into the real world, what are the challenges and how to overcome them, and how does one know their idea is worth commercializing from our panelists: Michael Kerr (Alberta Innovates), Dr. Nashaat Nassar (Chemical and Petroleum Engineering), Shae Coburn (Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking), Mike Dixon (CTO - WaterNEXT), and Jason Hendrick (CTO - SummitNanotech).

We invite you to join us for a networking night dedicated to creating connections between all players with interest in the nanotechnology sector from academia, industry, and startups in the province of Alberta, over hors-d’oeuvres and spirits!

The admission includes food and drinks! Join us for an exciting evening of nano!
