Attendees will reflect on the generational types within the pharmacy work and learning spaces today, to foster understanding (and better acceptance) of behavior patterns in themselves, and their colleagues and leaners. Savvy participates will also consider ways in which they might modify their own communications and teaching practices based on the generational type of those they are aiming to influence.

Manufacturers’ Exhibits / Poster Viewing

Prolonged infusion of antibiotics: Rationale for the insanity

Glen Brown, Pharm.D., FCSHP, BCPS, BCCPS – Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Critical Care, St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver

The listener should gain an appreciation of the rationale for prolonged infusion of selected antibiotics, and learn of the appropriate patient populations for such administration schedules,

Lipid Targets: Use Them or Lose Them?

Glen Pearson, B.Sc., B.Sc.(Pharm), Pharm.D., FCSHP, FCCS, Professor of Medicine, Division of Cardiology, Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute

Peter Loewen, B.Sc.(Pharm), Pharm.D., ACPR, FCSHP, R.Ph, Associate Professor, UBC Faculty of Pharmacy

Many dyslipidemia guidelines recommend the use of lipid level targets to guide treatment. There is significant controversy about the value of using lipid targets in this way, and about the targets themselves.
