The Forward Thinking Speaker Series reflects EPL’s rich history of taking risks, trying new things, and redefining the modern library. EPL invites thought-leaders from a variety of industries speaking on a variety of topics to share their insights, ideas, experiences, and viewpoints, with the goal of helping us purposefully build better organizations, neighborhoods, and communities.

The 2019 Forward Thinking Speaker Series Season Pass will go on sale Friday, December 14 starting at 10am. Secure your tickets to all five events starting at just $99.

The following speakers will share their insights, experiences and viewpoints as part of the ongoing series.

  • Dr. Safiya Noble is an Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California and author of the book Algorithms of Opression: How Search Engines Reinforce Racism. : Wednesday, February 20, 2019 - 7PM, Chateau Lacombe
  • Anthony Ray Hinton was wrongly convicted of two murders in 1985 and was held on Alabama's death row for 28 years. He's the author of The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row. :Wednesday, June 12, 2019 - 7PM, Chateau Lacombe
  • Dr. Chris Nowinski is a former WWE wrestler and co-founder of the Concussion Legacy Foundation which is dedicated to solving the sports concussion crisis through education, policy and research. :Tuesday, September 17, 2019 - 7PM, Chateau Lacombe
  • John Douglas is a retired FBI special agent and one of the first criminal profilers. He has written several books on criminal psychology including Mindhunter which has been adapted into a series on Netflix.: Monday, October 28, 2019 - 7PM, Chateau Lacombe
  • A fifth event will be announced in early 2019.

A limited number of Season Passes will be available for both General Admission and Preferred Seating guests. Preferred Seating pass holders will receive front of the room seating, a post-event reception with the speaker after each event and a tax receipt for a portion of the ticket price.
