Event description

Description

The Great Plains Fishery Workers Association is a non-profit professional organization consisting of fisheries and aquatic biologists, technicians, culturists, and instructors who work in government, private industry, colleges and universities, conservation groups or are employed as consultants to protect, manage or rear fish. Our collective efforts are impressive; with membership from six US states (Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana) and three Canadian provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba). The members of this organization maintain a direct “hands-on” approach to their work and respective management of the fisheries resources within their respective states or provinces.

The Alberta membership of the Great Plains Fishery Workers Association is hosting the 67th annual meeting of this organization on January 28-30, 2019 in Lethbridge, Alberta. At this workshop, approximately 200 biologists will share and exchange ideas in respect to fisheries research, techniques, and management issues in order to provide greater quality and sustainable fisheries resources throughout the Great Plains area of North America.
