Event description

Description

During late summer and fall, Monarchs migrate to central Mexico to spend the winter; they are the only insect to undertake this amazing feat. As part of Monarch Watch, a citizen science program aiding in the long-term conservation of this species, Long Point Basin Land Trust will be tagging Monarchs to better understand this journey.

Join Kathryn Boothby, local naturalist and butterfly enthusiast, as she teaches participants of the workshop how to properly identify, catch, tag, and release Monarchs. Other colourful butterflies may also be spotted throughout the day, and participants will learn tips and tricks for identifying them.
