About this event

You have been identified as a key Grand River industry stakeholder. Your participation is needed to continue to build on the collaborations currently underway that enhance the Grand River Destination Experience, for both local users and visitors alike. As we continue our efforts, we will provide updates of the progress that is underway since our March 2019 pan-regional Grand River Visitor Development Forum.

Backgrounder

The Grand River is a significant regional tourism asset that flows through the heart of Southern Ontario and through the tourism regions of RTO1, 3, and 4, and engages many stakeholders along the River. Visitation by locals and visitors has heightened over recent years which has generated increased activity on-the-river and off-the-river.

The economic spin-off for tourism businesses, operators and municipalities that are situated along the Grand River corridor is the driver for our concerted focus that aims opportunities for future evolvement of the Grand River as a destination. Together the 3 RTOs continue to work in tandem, moving forward the actions that is identified in the Grand River Access Point Standards Manual, while enforcing the Grand River Style Guide for infrastructure, improving the river experience; providing the necessary components to ensure users have quality, consistent access both on and off the river.

Just last March, 2019, stakeholders gathered to bring forward and share in discussions on sustainable visitation along the river. We presented the piloting launch points, engaged with local businesses and municipalities needs and areas of focus, for consideration. We agreed to strike the Grand River Access Point Technical Committee, which today, is active in assigning civic addresses and kilometre markers to the entire length of the river to improve user safety.
