2021 Legal Intensive Program for Leaders

About this Event
This one-day online workshop will be delivered on Thursday, March 25, 2021 and will address key legal issues for leaders in the developmental and disability services sector. participants will receive access to live, online, lawyer-led workshops, question and answer periods as well as workshop materials.
Workshop focus areas will include:
1. Corporate Governance:
- ONCA updates, conflict of interest considerations and corporate governance obligations in 2021
- Insurance issues in the wake of Covid-19
- Amalgamations and alternative cost sharing models
- Foundations, housing corporations and alternative corporate structures.
2. Labour and Employment:
- Updates on key Pandemic Response issues
- Bill 124 compliance update
- Key employment contract and collective agreement language updates (with sample provisions provided)
- Discipline and termination related to health and safety issues
- Diversity and Inclusion policies and best practices
- Remote work arrangements and accommodation obligations.
3. Privacy:
- New privacy legislation and implications for Ontario not-for-profits and charities
- Technology, smart devices, and privacy in residential settings and other workplaces
- Online service delivery and digital innovation – best practices for protocols, code of conduct, etc.
- Website terms of use.
4. Managing Support Relationships:
- Health care consent, Powers of Attorney, DNRs and supporting people with disabilities in the health care system
- Financial literacy, legal advocacy, decision-making and estate planning for people supported
- Funding agreements, residential tenancies and supported banking
- Family breakdown and navigating complex family dynamics.
This online intensive program will be of interest to leaders (executive, directors, privacy officers, HR/Finance/QA managers) and board members of not-for-profits and charities supporting people with disabilities. This full-day program will be offered online and is available to our clients and subscribers to our webinar series.
